The beginning
The idea to make personal drawings in addition to the Landscapes in Wool came about when my brothers and sisters and I were looking for something original for my father's funeral card. My father was a great sailing enthusiast and his home port and town of birth was Hoorn. I made a drawing of his boat with the Hoofdtoren van Hoorn in the background. The reactions to the card were very enthusiastic and the original drawing hangs framed at my mother's as a nice memory. An example
Someone asked me if I could make a drawing of his old A-Ford. He sent me a picture of his oldtimer and I drew it with the famous Kinderdijk in the background. That seemed nice to me because he told me that he sometimes drives his old car there.
Example
This is a fragment of a drawing of a T-Ford with an old shipyard in the background. Of course you can also put forward your own ideas for the background. Think, for example, of the Zaanse Schans, the bulb fields or perhaps an old factory or a mountain road in France.
Method
The technique I use is called 'washed pen drawing'. Pen, ink and watercolors and some fine brushes are my tools. The colors I use match the character of this 'old' technique. The size of the drawing is about half A4 and a maximum of 24x17cm. The drawing is delivered in a simple passe-partout of A4 format and framed on request in a beautiful neutral wooden frame.
Submit your photo
Send me the photo of your car, boat or other precious object by e-mail. Preferably a 3-quarter view. You can also e-mail your suggestions for the background, which can also be photos. Portraits of people or animals are unfortunately not suitable.
How to order
Send an e-mail of the photo of your object in 3 quarter view to info@landscapesinwool.com. You can also add photos of suggestions for the background. I will contact you as soon as possible. The size of the drawing is maximum 17 x 24 cm and minimum A5. The drawing comes standard with a simple A4 size passe-partout. You can choose the option to have the work framed. The work is then delivered in a neutral wooden frame of A4 size. I will do my utmost to provide the best possible artist impression. Of course, personal choices are made and the hand of the draftsman is characteristic image-determining.
